Each of these multi-packs contains strips of skin with just the right sized hackle you need for tying
your favorite dry flies. For each small pack, you will receive well over 150 feathers between the
three colors. Sizes: 16 and smaller. Colors: (025)Olive/Cream/Dark Dun, (155)Grizzly/Brown/Cream, (611)Grizzly/Brown/Light Dun, (777)Dun/Light Dun/Dark Dun, (811)Badger/Cream/Black, (888)Grizzly/Brown/Medium Dun.
I just finished tying 2 dozen size 18 Adam's Parachutes and I haven't made a dent in the necks. Same goes for my size 18 Blue Wing Olives. I have tied almost a dozen size 26 Adam's Parachutes. It seems like everytime I use one of the feathers a new one grows back in it's place.
This is a nice hackle pack especially for a travel kit. It is not a ton of feathers but they are good quality and they colors are very good. Each color had a good range of size 16-22's and even had a few 14's in there. I did get it on sale and if a sale comes around again i will pick up a few more colors and 1 or 2 of the mediums as well.
This is an excellent assortment that covers a wide variety of tying needs. I mostly use these hackles on several nymph patterns and they work great for realistic presentations.
These are great if you don't tie a whole lot of flies (as in commercial tiers) and don't want the expense of a full cape in every color and size imaginable. For a lot less money you can get all the colors and sizes you need for the average fly tier. If you tie lots and lots of very small dry files (size 20 or smaller) you might consider going a different direction. But if you tie a great variety of flies, rather than dozens of the same thing, this is the way to go. Saves space too!
