Description: For those unfamiliar, Tate Guns are the brainchild of Dale Tate - Purdey’s trained gunmaker, AyA service, gunfittings, fine English gun repair. Dale teamed with a group of the finest craftsmen in the US to create modern hammerguns that were a cut above what is typically available to those who want a modern, serviceable hammergun. This one started life as a SIACE hammergun - and that’s where the SIACE connection ends. Dale went through the action, filing, polishing, re-hardening, treating the workings to the TLC he would devote to a Purdey. And every other detail was equally obsessive in the hands of other well-known craftsmen. Barrel work - Kirk Merrington, engraving - former Purdey’s engraver, Charles Lee, metal finishes - Doug Turnbull. The end result : a modern gun that will handle the demands of today’s shooter with contemporary ammunition, crisp trigger pulls, smooth opening and closing, quick lock times, excellent patterns and a gun that you can happily show off each and every time you take it afield or to the range. This particular gun was a demo gun, so it has been shot, but markings are minimal and the amount of shooting it has done is negligible. Consigned.
