This unique snap-in weight eliminates tangled buoys.
Simply unlock the weight and throw the buoy overboard to mark underwater structure and fish.
The buoy will unwind itself until weight hits the bottom. Colors:
Fluorescent Orange.
I would not recommend this product.....the first couple of times I used them it took me a minute to realize that the weight would only go down about three feet then it would stop.....I added a 2 oz weight to the existing weight to make them function as designed
I had one of these, the old style w/ lead weights and it didn't lock together. That set cracked after I wrapping the line back on it and put it away. The problem is two-fold. First, anytime you wrap a line around something, each wrap becomes tighter, and tighter. (Have you ever wrapped an extension cord up using the palm of your hand and elbow to wrap it on? By the time you are done it's hard to extract your hand because everything has cinched down tight.) The other problem is that when the line is wet it stretches. When it dries, it tightens down on the float and cracks the center apart. I've even substituted monofilament line to eliminate the line shrinkage problem, but the results are the same.
Yesterday I received a new set (that locks together and has the non-lead weight). I figured I'd add my old lead weights to the new set to help the new set unwind better. (They do struggle to unwind all the way, but that also makes them less likely to unwind too far.) I unwrapped the line on both of the new floats to check the knots and guess what? The center of both units are already cracked straight from the factory!
Now I'm wondering if the round Lindy floats would be less susceptible to cracking.
There are lots of cool things about this buoy: it snaps to iteslf, easy to handle, compact. Just one big problem: it doesn't work. The big flat geometry means it cannot spool out line. So if you set it, and the tide comes up, off it goes, like a leaf in the wind. We thought we had enough line out, and 10 of them jsut floated away...not exactly what we were hoping for! The other brands do this pertectly - keeping a taught line, but secure in their locations. Again, if you can be sure you can work with a float that won't pay out line, this can work for you - just be careful!
