I've had 2 of these on my boat for 2 seasons getting ready for my third and not had an issue. I'd love to have a set of the Canon Digi-trolls but when you can get two of these for the price of one Digi-troll it was a no brainer. I use them for lake trout and kokanee fishing in Colorado and they are pretty easy to operate. For the money you can't beat them.....
This electric is really fast, and has worked flawlessly now for 6 years and counting. I find it a lot more compact than the Scotty I have on my other boat so it's not in the way, plus it has a beautiful power down toggle switch so lines don't get tangled when I put them down deep. My Scotty can't do that . because all Scottys are belt drive and so you have to lower the ball manually, and sometimes if I'm not careful the ball drops a bit too fast and of course I can't tell that the lure has helicopted around my cable and I troll fouled with no chance of catching fish. I'll be replacing the Scotty with another Walker electric in the spring.
I mounted this down rigger on my boat two weeks ago and it has functioned perfectly, my only concern is the depth counter, it is a small spring turning the wheel on the counter and it dosn't always come back to zero this making it difficult to reset before the next use but with more use I think I will be able to adapt
The downriggers function really well and I am pleased with their performance. The electric down is a nice option for ease of lowering the weights. And the auto up makes for getting lines out more quickly. Good product.
