I don't like the spool laying on it's side. The cable falls off almost every time I reset the release when it gets slack. I do like the release but woulkdn't recommend the downrigger.
Good down rigger for my NorthRiver. It is strong in rough water, easy to use and is fish ready out of the box. If your boat is 3 or more feet from the water line upgrade to the 30-60" adjustible beam. For the same price as the 1085 and 360 mounting base you can get the upgraded package deal with an ajustible boom. Much better value. Do not use the quick flip up function while fishing. Every thing else is great. I dont know what scotty was trying to accomplish with that feature.
Thanks very much. Very happy with the product. Delivery was extremely fast thought it might have taken longer coming to Australia. The Price was excellent, customer service was fantastic can't fault a single thing. Will definatley be buying from your store again. Thanks from a satisfied customer
I got my Scotty 1085 for a 22' Pontoon boat. Since it is a Family/Fishing boat, it has to be adaptable to either. This Scotty stowes away or deploys fast! We've had as many as 4 lines on ours at the same time with Scotty's stacker clips. Most recently was a New Years fishing trip to a freshwater lake I like to fish, with friends. We tried a couple of days of hard fishing from the top... trolling, drifting, casting, and bottom bouncing. It was looking like it was going to be a skunked trip. I told my buddy, Chuck, "Maybe we should try downrigging?" We set up the Scotty and before we got a mile trolling a lap we were in the fish! The sonar was showing the fish at 50' and below, down to the bottom at 98 to 100'. The Scotty put us right in "The Zone" where the fish were on a thermocline. Fish On! became to tone for the rest of the trip with the 1085 keeping us where the fish were. Trust your downrigger.
