Purchased 2 1050's. My fishing partner and I have been using these on his boat for 4 years now. I just got my own boat and have outfitted wit these 1050's. In 4 years my fishing partner has never had a problem with the 1050's. His are purchased in Canada his have the Scotty rod holders the Cabelas rod holders are a really nice addition. Also Cabelas supplies an 8 lb weight with every 1050. These are lead so I put several coats of automotive rubberized rock chip coating. Yes these only pull in 1 foot per turn but all in all they work flawless.
NOTE: you must adjust the tension/drag in case you hang up on the bottom. The documentation from the factory claims they are preset YOU MUST SET THE TENSION FOR SAFETY.

I didn't like the small cable wheel, and it's laying down so cable falls off it when there is slack and it's hard to pull it back out.

I purchased two of the 1050 models to out-fit my boat for stripper fishing. For the money I don\u2019t think I could have picked a better manual downrigger. The overall quality and simplicity of setting up and using of this product is outstanding. Consider your mounting options. Good fishing!

Fitted to my 4.35Metre tinnie, Works great does everything the makers claim. Can't fault it.
Maybe better fitted with an electric retrieve system as the larger models, but that,s just nit-picking and really unneccessary.
