My old Cannons worked really well but finally quit.
I ordered these new mag 5's thinking they were a good price.
I was wrong.
They weren't worth mounting on the boat!
Totally uncontrollable.
I marked a fish at 70 feet on the fishfinder and I wanted to raise the ball up from the 80 foot mark where it had been set...bot NOOOOO..the downrigger made up it;s mind to come all the way to the surface instead..ridiculous ...
I should have read the reviews BEFORE I bought them!

CANON Mag 5 HS

I Installed two on my new 18' fishing boat with the swivel mount. They work very well and I appreciate the possibility to chose fron 45, 90 degrees angle or flat rear position. The only thing wrong is the power switch whis is hard to learn to handle to stop the rewind when I want to raise my bullet by some feet. To down the bullets it is more easy to use the clutch. Good product. Trouble free for the two years I have them on the boat.

Circuit board burned out after a few months. It was useless at controlling the ball anyway.
They fixed it by installing a switch that I have to hold to bring up the ball.
This is NOT very handy when I'm fighting a fish.
Cannon's off my list when it comes to any future considerations.

I recently thought I would upgrade to newer models.
