Good quality downrigger cable

I'm pleased with the quality of the 150' Scotty downrigger cable. But I have yet to find a really good way to terminate it on my cannon downrigger spools (not the weight hook end). The Cannon's have a hole in the spool, which doesn't lend itself well to the Scotty cable crimps and is too big for a knot in the cable. Please post any better ideas here. Thanks.

Scotty downrigger cable

Cable itself is fine, price was fair. My disappointment was that there were no instructions provided on how to install it. I had to go to the Scotty web site. Even there, the instructions were somewhat cryptic, so I had to call Scotty customer service. Once I was talked through it over the phone, installation was successful and it works fine.
