great but expensive.

These guys shoud look at the Walker Terminator release..they function identical except the walker terminator also terminates the cable..all for less money.

... and I think I've tried them all. They work, they hold up. Easily adjustable to the situation - depth, size of lure, current, etc

Best Releases in the WORLD!!!

I went through about 6 different releases till i read the reviews on Black's release on this site!! No more banging the downrigger weight on the side of the boat!! And also no more losing the big ones when the clip does not release!! I went in search of the best release clips you could buy all fishing season and finally found them!!!!

As a professional fishing guide for the last 35 years I can tell you dont waste your time with any of the other "johnny come lately" releases out there . We have time tested most of them and there is NO comparision these Smith releases are the finest available and are foolproof. We run about the lenght of the rod for leader and actually just attach the bottom of the barrel swievel right to the release so there is no fancy knot to tie . That works perfectly and anyone can do it . Simple and effective. Dont waste your money or your time messing around with standard friction releases you will wind up loosing big fish and alot of time......... hope this helps you all.
