Big Jon Releases

Big Jon Releases have built a reputation as high quality, high performance releases. Per each.
Available:
  • The Free ’N Easy release is considered "the release of choice by Great Lakes charter captains." Features an adjustable tension point of release. Tracks strait and true even at slow trolling speeds.
  • The Band Buster features an easy to use rubber band type release that uses heavy (#31) or light (#16) rubber bands. When a fish strikes, the light bands break or the heavy bands telegraph the strike at the rod tip. A great choice when targeting soft biting fish.

Performance Release
Date:
This release is fabulous.
We've used them for over 20 years. Still using the same ones from over a decade ago. We've only replaced the ones we've given away or smashed with a 18lb ball accidentally.
Fished them from Montana to California, Flathead Lake to Lake Tahoe or the rivers; in 5ft or 150ft of water. It takes a little to set the tension perfectly on deeper trolls, but once you have it, it sticks and is perfectly repeatable. Usually, 'almost no' tension works for light tackle (needle-fish, crocodile, sling blades, etc., lead-core or light mono-filament) up to 2mph, down to about 35ft.
Excellent product, excellent results!

Very solid, sturdy. They stand up to hard fishing use after use.
