Great addition
Date:
Installed the mounts on my Stingray and they work great. Nice construction, all welded and they are light. Universal top plate fit my downrigger bases with no problems. Would definately buy again.

Not quite Universal
Date:
It is a sturdy gimbal mount for a downrigger, however it is not compatible with Scotty downriggers- this was an issue for me b/c I have a Scotty downrigger. For the price if you can find a downrigger it fits, I think it would be a good purchase.

Gimbal Mount
Date:
I purchased this gimbal mount to replace an aluminum one that had become damaged due to the downrigger ball becoming hung up on the bottom and bending some of the bottom cuts when the downrigger torqued due to the pressure. This gimbal mount appears to be much stronger and well-built than the aluminum one that I damaged. We used it this last week fishing and I very much appreciate the attitude that it sits at in the rod holder, very flat and sturdy. Haven't hung up on the bottom yet, but I'll bet it doesn't get damaged as easily as the aluminum one. That's a slam dunk bet.
