This tent is over 6 pounds, I weighed it. Too many windows that do not zip up and close.I do not recomend this tent for anything but warm summer months. Not much shelter at all from the cold. So without the rain fly on, all you see is netting that the wind and cold blow through. No solid roof. Rain fly is huge and overbearing. Have to step up over a foot and a half to get into the tent. Easy to trip over. Yeah it's cheap, and made that way! So whats the point? Might as well sleep under the stars. Spend the money to get a good tent. You will be glad you did! I am sending this back!
Several reviewers have downgraded this tent, which is very sturdy and very comfortable, because it is heavier and not quite as well made as many much more expensive high tech backpacking ones. Hello! It was cheap at list and has been on sale for about half that on several occassions.
My recommendation is to snap it up while you can. This baby will stand up to 60 mph winds and driving rain - I've seen it do it - and only weighs 3-4 pounds more than the highest tech tent you can find for hundreds more.
Give it a break. You don't get what you pay for with this one - you get tons more.
Way too heavy for more than an over-nighter and way to hard to put up in the field with the slightest amount of wind. Save your money and buy a real backpacking tent. This one does not qualify. One pole clip was broken right out of the box.
I bought this tent to cut down on weight from my last larger tent so I can backpack everything in.
I have used it 2 times so far and both trips out have been extremely windy where other peoples tents had blown down or had poles break. The Trekker did just fine in the wind. The small 3rd pole across the center added a lot of stability verses some of the 2 pole models.
I liked the Fly / vestibule and it had enough room to store a few items out of the weather like boots, bag chair from the frost and helped make a wind block from the opening.
The directions were horrible and I'm glad I set it up at home in the light before trying to do it at night in the field. Compared to the XPG, for twice the price, (but a little heavier) The Trekker is a bargain.
