Cabela's Outfitter Series™ XWT-Xtreme Weather Tent

Imagine the worst conditions you could ever put a tent through – high winds, driving rain, heavy snow – no matter what you come up with, our testers thought of worse and put the XWT – Extreme Weather Tent through it. Test after test, it stood up to the most extreme punishment. In fact, we can confidently say it is simply our strongest tent ever. The secret to this amazing tent is in its 3/4" aluminum frame with Cabela's exclusive Bipod Corner™ for superior structural integrity and to give it the backbone to stand solidly through harsh weather. In fact, in a wind test, this revolutionary tent withstood a sustained 75-mph blast from a jet engine, a remarkable feat considering it also has a high- profile design for extra headroom. The walls and floor are constructed of 210-denier oxford nylon with a 2,000mm-rated waterproof coating and the rugged full-coverage rainfly is made from 150-denier polyester oxford with a 1,500mm-waterproof rating with fully taped seams for maximum performance. Plus, the fly is "overbuilt" with reinforced guy-out points, 1,000-denier nylon reinforcements and heavy-duty No. 10 zippers. The shell includes a spacious integrated vestibule on the front and a smaller rear vestibule for extra storage of packs and other bulky gear. Dual zippers on the vestibules allow you to customize the ventilation to fit a wide range of weather conditions. Brass grommets on the corners of the front door let it double as an awning. Two large D-shaped doors (one front, one rear) make it easy to get in or out without letting rain or snow in. Triangular ventilation panels on the roof can be opened to increase air flow. Inside, a roomy gear loft and two mesh organizers keep essentials where you can find them easily in the night. The heavy-duty 12" steel stakes hold tightly in any soil type. The zippered stuff sack has a separate internal sack for the tent body to keep it dry especially when using the optional Dry-Set Pitch Kit. Imported.

Absolutely an Amazing Tent!!
Date:
I've owned the Cabela's XWT Outfitter for about 6 years now. Other than being a heavy tent, I have no complaints. I was camping in Lake Texoma State Park for a week, and during that week it rained 16 inches. We had two tents, one for gear and the XWT for sleeping. The gear tent (which wasn't a bad tent) was literally holding a foot of water inside. The XWT, not a drop of water inside. I've since used this tent in just about every climate there is from sub zero temps with feet of snow, to desert, and still have no complaints. By far this is the best tent I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot of tents looking for a good one, but my search is over.

More than expected.

Owned the 10x10 for almost a year now. First season went through a few storms, but nothing too severe. And the tent never moved. Until June 4, 2010. Camped out at a local lake and could see the lightening on the horizon about the time to go to sleep. My kids always setup there own small dome tents and they went and bedded down. I stayed up and watched the radar, and listened to the weather radio. About 2 am the spotters were calling for extreme winds and golfball size hail out of a supercell headed straight for our campsite, seemed to be about 15 minutes out. I got out and pulled the kids into our tent and warned a few neighboring campsites. No sooner had we got in the xwt and zipped it up and you could hear the howling. This storm hit with suck a force all you could hear was screaming over the wind. People from the other campsites were screaming trying to get to safety of the only small concrete bathroom a ways off, or there vehicles. We heard a snap on the tent and assumed I had just broken a pole or snapped a guy line. I wasn't too concerned as it was holding still. As the wind died down and went to a rain a few minutes later, I open the tent and looked into the vestuble and had broken one pole, but all the guys held in place. I crawled out of the tent and it looked like a bomb had went off, out of about 100 campsites with campers and tents, only 4 remained. 3 rv's, and our tent. boats upside down in the bay going across the lake, tents were completely gone. My sons own cheap dome with all the gear was in a tree a few hundred yards away. Campers were blown over, trees snapped. Most everyone that made it to there cars left all there gear and vanished. Our tent was still secure and we stayed the rest of the weekend. I did call customer service at Cabelas close to me and was insured to just bring it in and they gave me a new tent. Later reports had winds at 90mph+. after examining my tent, only reason one of the pols broke was one of the guys had loosened up on the fastener a bit, or it would of been ok too. But never worried about the tent blowing away.

Reminiscent of Horse Shoe Crabs on the beaches of Long Island, this is one serious tent. Other then the afore mentioned crabs and a few gals I've known, this is the finest example of "form follows function".
Tie downs galore with stakes that actually work. Sturdy oversized zippers with
convenient pulls and weather flaps. The 10'x10' square footprint eliminates the
floor space loss of a geodesic structure. There's plenty of head room with minimal
shoulder interference from sloping walls. The Dry Pitch Kit and additional floor liner
ensure durability below. Compliment this with a 5'x9' Cabelas cabin carpet, kept warm
with a Buddy Heater, it's almost like home!
The strong exterior frame has allowed me to install the clothes rack from my SUV
to adjacent corners, finally providing a solution to weeks of clothing being trampled
and tossed in the vehicle. Sewing an oversized "button hole" into the overhead net
allows an electric lantern to be hung from the hook at the center hub while maintaining
the use of the storage net. A folding chair in the corner, my bunk along the opposite
wall with a utility tool box for a nite stand and I'm all settled down for a nice evenings rest.
A seat out on the veranda beneath awning provides a comfortable setting for relaxing,
a Manhattan in hand, after a hard days hunt.
BTW, this Xtreme Tent joins 4 other Cabela units, 3 Outback Lodge and a 16'x20'
Montana Canvas cook tent, at our annual deer camp.
