lg bivy cot
Date:
this is a great idea that falls short in function.
the spray skirt is too short and lets water in under the tent and you have a cot full of water. the skirt should be 1 or 2 inches longer, or have tie out grommets so you can guy line it out. The cot attachment system is also in need of refinement.
The tent is roomy, well ventilated, even with the fly, and is a pleasure to use; just not fully rain protected.
I now attach 6 guy out points on the spray skirt ( one on ea. end and 2 on ea. side) and the rain is no longer a concern.
I would also pay more for aluminum poles and continous pole sleeves.
A wonderful product done 80% right.

Outstanding Product
Date:
I purchased two bivies for me and my son to use on a recent Webelo camp out in N Texas. Needless to say it was hot with very little breeze and a fair share of flying insects and I wanted to avoid using mosquito nets and the US Army surplus tents provided. The bivy and fly are very compact to pack, light and very easy to set up. I purchased the regular size bivy tents and attached them to a competitor's XL cots. The bivies came with a small attic to store glasses and headlamps. We got some rain during the campout but the fly kept everything inside dry. Some rain collected between the tent and cot but we both had sleeping pads that kept us "high and dry". I'm 5' 10" and had plenty of room to stretch out. I plan on bringing a small tent to store gear on future campouts and use these bivy cots to keep us off the ground. I think a cot is so much more comfortable than using an air mattress. I highly recommend this product to others.

Great tent
Date:
This tent is perfect for me. I like my cot and I love to sleep outside. Most of the time I get eaten alive by insects. NOT THIS TIME! Didn't have a bite. Took 5min maybe to set up and less time to take down. It has plenty of room for me to sleep comfortly which I did. It is also small enough to put in the bag on my four wheeler and use as a bivy. VERY PLEASED!!!!!!!!!

Nice, thoughtful design
Date:
I haven't taken this out into the field yet but am impressed with how well it's designed.
Compared to another shelter I had, this one is fully self-supporting. Nothing to corrode in salt air. No guy lines needed to support either the tent's body or the rain fly. The only reason to set out any additional lines would be to provide some additional stability in strong winds.
There's a surprising amount of headroom. Zippers seem like they're corrosion-resistant. The relatively large teeth are less likely to fail. Lots of ventilation for warm weather comfort yet good coverage for rainy days.
The only shortcoming I can see is rain getting between the floor of the shelter and the cot. It would be better to have some sort of skirt extend below the edge of the cot to prevent rain water from pooling between the two. That said, it's a good idea to put a foam pad between the floor of the shelter and the cot. If that area gets damp you'll want some kind of insulation to keep from getting chilled in wet, breezy conditions. I'd give it five stars if it featured a slightly longer skirt.
I shoot video for an outdoor TV show and it looks like this cot shelter would make a compact but nice enough home away from home for a few days.
