A completely waterproof transmitter and receiving system that covers everything from basic to advanced training. It’s designed with the harshest environments in mind – and even the transmitter floats if dropped in water. It has a range up to one mile and comes complete with waterproof, rechargeable NiMH batteries; transmitter; and collar. Nick and continuous stimulations come standard. 1820 model also includes vibration feature. 16 adjustable intensity levels, digital technology, Maxx-Range™ internal collar antenna system, extra-mild Gentle Touch™ stimulation and built-in safety shut-off. Purchased this unit 11/10 to replace 2 old units from other manufactures. Other units I've owned in this price range won't control three dogs with all functions.1 mile range with vibrate mod (my dogs respond without stimulation compared to tone).

3 months after purchace transmitter battey would not take a charge, sent DT an email requesting a new battery, they responded that normally they require the unit back. They sent me a new battery UPS. Installed it, returned old battery - unit works great. The transmitter has a very good seal so It should be waterproof

Invaluable Training Tool

I've had this training collar for several months now, and I am very impressed with it. I am not usually one to write reviews, but decided to do so because this training tool has gone over and beyond any expectations that I had. I've used shock collars in the past, but they were very spotty and unreliable. Not this one.

I have a Husky rescue that had some bad habits - the worst being him rifling through the trash and eating scraps. I was able to use the trainer to stop him from doing just that, without losing his trust. His previous owner must have beat him b/c I could not correct him from up close. Instead, I used this collar and I would keep an eye on him and correct him every time he got close to any trash can. Presto! He stopped digging through the trash within a couple of days. The collar worked every time I corrected him. I only have to use vibration now...this was really the only way I could communicate with him and keep him safe. My neighbors bought one as well once they saw the change.

Overall - I give it an A++. It has great battery life and it's durable. My dog has even chewed on it a bit and it works with no problems. Very highly recommended.

Dependable Tough

We have been using the DT collars for 2 years. The name says it all "Dependable Tough". These collars hold up in the most extreme weather conditions mother nature can throw at us.
The DT 1820 has been nothing short of wonderful. We have went to the 3 dog 1820's for all of our trainers, mainly because of the vibrate feature. The vibrate feature allows us condition a proper response without aversive methods. We can keep the pressure low, teach and reinforce with vibrate. We very seldom use stimulation anymore.
Thank you DT for producing a dependable, tough, professional grade collar priced for everyone.
