A must for a hunting dog 1st aid kit

I had carried this product "just case" for many years in my homemade "Dog 1st Aid Kit". I never really used it expect to "test" it on my labs for a couple of minor cuts until a day late this season. On that day we were hunting along an island in a river delta area. Just after shooting time we shot a mallard and my 8 yr old YFL swam out to retrieve it. Upon climbing back in the boat we saw she was bleeding very badly from ~2" cut in the back of her lower rear leg (ankle area). Apparently she hit some thing in the water. I used a handkerchief and applied pressure but the bleeding would not stop or really slow down. I got out my Dog 1st Aid Kit, applied EMT Gel to the cut, wrapped it in gauze, followed by pet-wrap. That quickly stopped the bleeding. We picked up and I got her the vet. When the vet took off my "1st aid treatment" he noted that the EMT gel had really helped stopped the bleeding and it was very good that I had it with me since bleeding from cuts in that area can be hard to stop. The vet used 12 stitches to close the cut and my dog was fine. I don't know if this product save her life, but it definitely played a very very big part in quickly and properly treating a bad injury.
