La Crosse Handheld Anemometer

  • Wind Speed
  • Thermometer
  • Wind Chill Sensor
Weather conditions can affect the way your gun and ammunition perform. Everything from the path of the bullet to variances in velocity will depend on atmospheric conditions when you shoot. North American weather is also subject to extreme changes in a short period of time. That makes it important for shooters and hunters to have access to the latest weather information. This La Crosse portable weather-sensing unit fits in the palm of your hand. It gives you the wind speed in English or metric units so you can stay downwind of your quarry, or calculate bullet-drift on those longer shots. Wind information can be displayed as current, average or peak-gust speed. The unit also displays current temperature and wind chill in Fahrenheit or Celsius. Smaller than many pocket calculators, the La Crosse Handheld Anemometer slips easily into a vest pocket, or use the provided neck strap. Runs on one 3V Lithium CR2032 button cell battery.
Measures: 1-1/2" x 3/5" x 4".
Text Size: AAA

Not accurate
Date:
I bought this Lacrosse anemometer to get the correct temperature when I'm out and about. My last trip out I sat shivering in 40 degree whether, yet the instrument told me it was a balmy 64 degrees. Tried changing the battery--made no difference.

Didn't work
Date:
Could not get the anemometer to measure wind velocity. Most times not at all and otherwise obviously wrong.
Took advantage of Cabela's generous return policy.

Gone With the Wind
Date:
Purchased this hand held wind guage with the intent of using it in the field as an aid in becoming more proficient in doping the wind. Had trouble from the beginning, had hard time getting it to turn on, once I got it on, I found that it would not measure a light breeze, so I took a ride in a car and held it out the window, found that it would start measuring the wind @ about 12MPH. Called La Crosse for help but they recomended I return it to Cabela's, and so I did.

Not sure yet
Date:
I have used this only a few times. It seems to be slow in responding, and does not match up with the output from a different style of hand-held anemometer used by a shooting companion.
Not sure yet if it really gives useful info.
The on-off button is hard to manipulate.
