Birds detect and see light differently than humans. While humans see three primary colors, birds are tetrachromatic – they see four colors, including ultraviolet light. Decoys may not look real to birds because the paints commonly used absorb UV light instead of reflecting it like real feathers. Parker Coatings has added UVision™ technology to their oil-based decoy paints. Use the UVision™ white paint to brighten divers, snow geese and pintail drakes. Touch up high-contrast white areas on Canadas and mallards to make them more visible to birds and take advantage of the UV edge.
