Greenhead Gear's QuickSnap™ Gang Rig Line Clips are perfect for setting longlines in fresh or saltwater. However, you must understand a few things before you purchase 6" clips. First; they are not for attaching to standard diameter decoy line. They are designed for 1/4" line or larger. I recommend tarred 1/4" main line. This should prevent any slippage. Second, due to their bright finish, get a can of Krylon flat spray paint in any of the brown, green or black varieties and spray all of your clips. This will solve the problem of having a shine throughout your rig. Third, for you guys that hunt saltwater, at the end of your season, I highly recommend you soak your clips in a bucket of soapy water (Dawn is great). Leave them for about an hour and rinse in clean water. After they dry, spray them with Berkley "Reel Magic" or Salt Away spray. This will neutralize the salt and help prevent rust. If some need a retouch with paint, spray those after you wash and dry them. If used with a heavy mainline, the 6" clips work great, especially in freezing weather when you need to wear gloves. As others have mentioned, a dark color clip would be better and smaller sizes should be offered for those who want to use standard decoy line for their mainline. I recommend these for those using a 1/4" mainline. Good product.
I have bought clips before from Cabela's and got 4 inch clips on my order. Those worked great on my diver rigs. This time the only choice was 6 inch. I like the size but I had a bunch of whistler decoys clustered up when they slipped on the line. Now that I read the reviews I see the problem and can fix.
I also agree anything except a sparkling chrome would be a better color. How about dull black?
Overall a good system to rig divers quickly. Just fix the problems.
Clips were easy to connect and are large enough that cold weather and water are not an issue when handling them, clipping and unclipping them from the mainline is a snap.
