Its field-proven octagon shape traps crabs on four sides, and it also lures lurking crustaceans with glow-in-the-dark bait-cage walls and trap doors. Large top-opening hatch with convenient stretch-tube-and-hook closure. Two escape rings cull undersized crabs. Fall-away rot cord system disables the trap if it’s unrecoverable. Durable vinyl-coated steel-wire construction.

Well made unit, BUT legal sized crabs in my area (Chesapeake Bay-Virginia) can slip thru the squares. I lost two thirds of the crabs before I could get them to the pier. Others of legal size were able to get out and I spent the afternoon chasing them across the pier deck. Snow crabs, Dungenese and Alaskan King crabs must have been the ones that were field proven in the testing of this trap. I was able to solve the problem with hardware cloth and zip ties. The squares need to be a little smaller.
