No instructions needed
Date:
I had read the other reviews prior to purchasing the cot and many commented on difficulties setting up the cot .. and also that the cot was missing instructions.
I purchased anyway and I AM GLAD I DID
I'm no rocket scientist, but c'mon.. this was pretty easy to setup.. There is a flap at the head (the Cabela's stitching end) that allows you to insert the poles right in. I did have to stretch the fabric a bit to get the end in, but that was a good thing.... (kept the cot fabric tight)
I put this together in about two minutes (first try) probably could do it in a minute on the second try. I'm a pretty big guy (just under 250...trying to get lower) and it fit me perfectly.
I actually bought it for my two labs to keep them off the ground / concrete...Combined, they weigh a lot less then I do.
Don't let the other reviews scare you. Maybe Cabela's changed the design since the other users bought the cot..... regardless... it's was pretty easy

lightweight is wright

bought for my son and wife , good for lightweight poeple. not for a big person will not keep you off the floor. but for the lightweight people kids and petite wife, it works just fine. little tricky the frist time setting up , but is easyer after you have done it a couple of times.

Assembly is hard at best
Date:
I finally had it with this cot, yesterday when breaking camp, I just gave it away. The thing takes one heck of a strong pair of hands to get the side poles into the canvas position at the ends. I finally had to resort to a helper and a pry bar to get it together.
If you do buy this, might think about cutting off 1/2 inch or so of the poles.

Don't waste your money
Date:
We got two of these for a camping trip and test all equipment before we are out in the field. When we got them there were no instructions but the design of the cot is basic so that wasn't a big deal. The problem was that the set up was ludicrous. After fighting to get the side rails in the canvas sleeve of the cot fabric we started fighting with it to get the legs on.
Finally we looked at each other, broke it back down, put it back in the box and returned it. We sucked it up and spent the extra money for the pre-assembled, hinged aluminum frame cot that was more expensive and lighter. We had the new cots up in under 2 minutes.
Saving a few bucks isnt worth the headache of fighting with a poorly designed and poorly made product out in the field. Don't waste your money. I am a HUGE bargain shopper but its about working smart not hard.
