Simply put, everything about these coolers is engineered for one purpose – to keep ice frozen and contents cool longer than the competition. Nonslip, nonmarking feet keep it in place on deck. Leakproof drain plug. Sizes:
I am thoroughly pleased with this cooler. It is strong, well made, and well thought out. The handles are well balanced, long enough for ease of carrying, and comfortable to hold. The cooler has two drain ports for ease. The rubber feet prevent any slipping/sliding in your truck or boat. It does keep ice as it states and is nearly indestructable. The only down side is it is very heavy dry or filled, but this is not meant to be a trully portable unit. It is expensive, but if you figure up how much you spend on cheaper coolers and how long this one will last, it will pay for itself time and again.
I use this cooler as the main cooler on my whitewater raft on long trips. The grand canyon private trip is 270 miles long, and you need to have all of your food at the put in, so a cooler that will keep ice for a week or 10 days is required. This cooler will do that.
The top of the cooler is used as a seat or as a walkway, and the top of this cooler is well enough constructed that having 200+lb people walking on it regularly has not damaged it. My coolers have been down the grand canyon 4 times since purchase and I've been very happy with them.
** to get 2 week ice, load your cooler with all of your items, fill the cooler with water, and then take the entire cooler to the local cold storage facility or grocery store and freeze it solid. You'll have ice for 2 weeks, even in arizona with air temps above 100 for weeks at a time. Remember to allow some airspace to allow the lid to close, and for the ice to expand into.
