The Torium reels not only meet the demands of saltwater anglers around the world, they exceed them. Its lightweight die-cast aluminum frame and solid one-piece construction result in extremely tight tolerances and increased durability. HEG® (High Efficiency Gearing) provides a high-speed retrieve with an unbelievable amount of torque that allows the angler to move fish quickly. The Ergonomic Septom™ power handle gives a nonslip grip even when wet and allows for three different, comfortable hand positions. And you can set the adjustable handle shank in the position that best matches the fish being pursued. The short shank position allows for rapid retrieves while the long shank position provides increased torque. Three A-RB® (Anti-Rust Bearings) are specially treated and at least 10 times more corrosion-resistant than standard stainless steel bearings. Dartanium drag washers. Precision click star drag adjusts the drag setting in measurable increments. Reliable Super Stopper® anti-reverse with no backplay, even in cold or wet weather. Clicker button.

shimano Torium and Tallus

What a combo . I purchased a torium 20 and a 7 ft shimano tallus rod for deep water Cod and trolling for the striped ones in the spring . With the 6.2 :1 ratio its no problem pulling 8 to 15 lb. cod up in 150 ft or more of water . As for troling in the spring its not uncommon to get multiple hook ups . This combo has more than enough strength to put them in the box . Shimano makes top quality equipment and I would highly recommend it to every fisherman out there .

The kind of solid craftsmanship I expect from Shimano. It has worked well for some small and medium size sharks. Definitely recommend.

Reel is very smooth and built like a tank. Best reel on the market!!!!! I use mine for albacore tuna to halibut fishing cant go wrong.

This reel is so good. I use it for surf fishing. It casts excellent. I love the high 6.2 ratio. Shimano really does their homework when they make reels. The only negative thing I can say is that I don't really care for the dartanium drag washers. They are smooth, but very brittle. I replaced the washers with carbon fiber washers and what a difference. Great reel, great price.
