Penn® Levelwind Reel

Penn Levelwind reels are legendary for their versatile performance. Anglers worldwide have found their sure reliability and incredible toughness is at home anywhere - fresh or saltwater, casting or trolling. These reels have precision machined stainless steel pinion gears with high-strength bronze alloy main gears. Each reel has an anodized aluminum spool. Composite side plates and a warning clicker. These reels also feature a free spool lever, and comfortable soft grip counter-balanced handles. The 309M and 209M have a graphite composite rod clamp.

Great Reel

This reel served my right this year for snagging. Reels in easy and feels comfortable. Tough and dependable when I got snagged with 100lb spiderwire line on it.

Do not buy this reel. Mine broke within an hour of use on a haddock trip. The levelwind locked up never to move again.

I got a rental and while I was using that rod a mate was nice enough to fix my reel by completely removing the levelwind. After this modification the reel was operational. All the rental reels were Penn Senator 113s with "Made in the USA" proudly engraved into them.

I am still considering sending the rest of the 309 after its levelwind (trashcan) and replacing it with a senator.

Great Reel

I have used these reels for 30 plus year with little to no problems. Finally had to replace 2 reels that wore out after 20 plus years of use. They are great for trolling and deep water jigging for lake trout. Well worth the money!
