Penn's GT series of reels have been a stalwart of anglers for years and possibly the most capable trolling reels available. All models feature a one-piece graphite frame; machined, anodized-aluminum spools; marine-grade bronze alloy main gears; machined stainless steel pinion gears and stainless steel levelwinds. Super-durable HT100™ drag washers provide smooth and consistent drag pressures even under heavy loads. Cast-friendly star-drag system. Heavy-duty clickers, ball bearings and stainless steel line guides. The GT series includes models capable of handling everything from light freshwater trolling up to heavy-duty saltwater bottom fishing. Built with lightweight graphite frames and sideplates. The LD models incorporate an easy-to-adjust lever drag system. The LC models utilize an accurate analog linecounter.

Super-durable Penn's GTLH.
Absolutely recommended for this application.
They each offer a perfect retrieve ratio and very precision engineering sistem.
this reels is for serious saltwater angler.

I have use this reel for 4 years and have never had any problems others claim to have had. I use it for both trolling for Lakers, big Mac's, and Salmon, on big lakes here in Idaho and on the Snake/Clearwater rivers. It has always performed well, with NO problems what so ever. I clean and oil it every season. I use 18 lb Lead core or 40 lb braid line depending fishing conditions on Big Jon Downriggers. It has a faster retrieve than the old Penn 209 series which I like very much. Keep up the good work Penn. Looking to buy (2) more this season.
