Okuma Convector Linecounter Reel

An oversized gear box with XL gearing which provides 50% more drag surface, coupled with a self-lubricating gear system, makes the Convector series some of the smoothest-operating reels in Okuma's line. The Speed Loc Gearing System incorporates a dual-step pinion gear system pn star drag reels for positive engagement at high speeds. This system also allows for instant gear engagement and hooksets from freespool. The ergonomic forged-aluminum handle has a unique oversized handle knob for comfort and easy handling. All models include a light-weight, corrosionproof graphite body; a machined-aluminum spool; graphite rod clamp and an analog linecounter.

I wish the first one would have started acting up before i bought the 2nd one.
Niether one of my reels will stay in gear ~ and niether is more than 1 yr old..
They have Good line capacity and a good counter
But, They are absolute JUNK

I had the chance to use this reel only once so far and it performed above my expectations. It handled 10 grunts with ease and some nice red grouper.

Great Lakes Trolling Reels

Added these to the boat to use for high lines. The higher speed line retrieve and compact size works well with the Rainbows/Steelhead. I took the reel handle and moved it to the maximum position to get some extra power out of the reel, this is an extra bonus that Okuma does that others do not. So far no issues. The click drag is also very nice feature.
