I can't hunt without this tree stand! It's an ideal size, weight and extremely comfortable. It is quiet while in place and during the climb. The straps used to carry it can be a little uncomfortable, but they are manageable. You can't go wrong with this design!
This is my second tree stand I have purchased and used. I bought this model based on recommendations from other friends who have used the viper for years saying they wouldn't use anything else. I like how easy it is to get up and down. You have to make sure your foot clamps are securely fashioned to the rails or they can slip around. The elastic band tension can make them slip to an unusable location which is super tricky to fix when your 15' plus in the air. ALSO; I wish there was a better way to attach the two sections. This system comes with a line that ties the two parts together. (which is slightly small) I would have opted for another rugged type of bungee system to attach the two parts that has a reasonable length. Other then those two issues the stand is awesome; very quiet, easy to use, very secure, and comfortable when you in the tree. zzzzzzz
I have owned a summit viper and have used it faithfully for well over 15 yrs .mine is a little different ,like foot straps .and slide latches where the cables go in .But this stand is top notch. And i have killed a lot of deer from this stand .And most with a bow.Which is why im writting this reveiw.I have read that people have such a problem with the rail in the way.Take my over 15 yrs of experience .Position the seat all the way down as far as it goes. When your at your hunting height position the foot climber down so the bar is HIGHER.that way when at full draw your bottom cam is under the rail. trust me i learned this the hard way .lucky it was a clean miss . i climbed down retrieved my arrow climbed right back up and 20 min later with rail HIGH i arrowed a 6 pt that was 5 ft away from the tree i kind of felt like i was shooting my feet . lol I hope this helps someone !! TRY it The new stands are not that different , I am thinking about a new 1 but not because anything is wrong with mine .but for the dead metal technology and im cosidering the goliath . Im not as small as i was 15 yrs ago .I still love my old 1 . oh and 1 more thing make sure you replace that shrink tube on the cables every few years .its much quieter when its fresh. good luck!
