I should start by saying that this is the first climbing treestand that i have ever used and i am thrilled with it. I have hunted for years out of ladder stands and i still enjoy the stability and comfort of them but when it comes to set up and taking them down and carting them in and out of the woods it can be quite a chore. I was hesitant for some time now on getting a climbing stand because i wasnt sure on how stable they would be or ease of going up and down a tree. After reading alot fo reviews and doing quite a bit of research online i finally purchased this model and i couldnt be happier. The drawbacks are like previously stated the stand is pricey and the instructions are pretty poor. However anyone with half a brain and a computer can figure out how to work the thing very easily and as for the cost you do get what you pay for. I am pushing the 350# cap on this stand and after hunting all day with it this last monday i can honestly say that this is the most comfortable treestand i have ever hunted out of. Generally in ladderstands i can make it about an hour than i have to stand up and get the blood flowing back to the legs. I went 5 hours before i had to stand up on monday and that was only because i had to urinate. The only other time i stood up after that was when i heard someing crashing through the woods behind me. Its like sitting in a lazyboy once you get in the tree. The sit and climb aspect of going up and down the tree is very easy to use and extreemly quiet. The stand is pretty light and i didnt have any problems hauling it the mile and a half back into the woods where i was hunting.
A few problems- i put my stand togehter and mounted it to a tree in my garage so i could make any adjustments. once i had it all set up i sat in the seat and TARE. the strap that connects to the backrest then ties around the tree tore at the seam of the backrest. i had everthing properly installed and this unit was brand new out of the box.my wives dad who also has the same stand helped set it up.he has used his for 3 years and loves it. im only 160 pounds so i wasnt even half way to the 350# limit. i plan to exchange as im assuming this was a defective stich or something. the only other problem with the stand is the rubber track. they should have made it so the rubber track isnt restricted from going shorter. there is a nut/screw in the way on the top section. this makes it so your limited to how small of a tree you can go up. a simple fix is to flip the screw/nut around that way the rubber track isnt restricted and you can climb the smallest tree your heart desires. i reccomend you add a metal washer to make it stronger. as far as the bottom section you just got to pop off the end caps and then the rubber track can go out the end of the metal frame and you can go as short as you want. set up was very simple and took 5 min. but i did have my wives dad helping. this unit isnt cheap and my old $150 unit was more comfortable but it is light and quiet and simple to use. hope this helps. good luck hunting.
This stand is Pricey but in treestands and almost all of the hunting products marketed today, you get what you pay for. I cant say enough about Lone Wolf because everything they manufacture is 100 percent high quality. The lightest most packable stand on the market. If you have to hike to your stand that is 2 miles up a mountain and down the other side then you are out of your mind to purchase any other stand. The reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is becuase the assembley directions are poor and it takes a little more time to set up than other stands but what else can you ask for. Good Luck and stay safe this hunting season.
Components are well made and high quality. Instructions are unclear however a call to the manufacturer resolved the issues.Great customer service. My disappointment is because the sitting component is very noisy. I'm 6'4" and 260 lbs with gear on. When moving the metal frame made snapping noises like a broken branch, very loud. Spent 2 hours trying to resolve in tree, no luck. Might be good for a lighter person but I am sending it back.
