Oversized, enclosed, angled-in steps ensure maximum slip-free safety, even with bulky cold-weather boots. Plus, the top steps on each section are welded side-by-side for a stable platform when hanging the next section. Set of four sections measures 22 ft. assembled. Weight: 27.5 lbs. Weight capacity: 260 lbs.
It doesnt have to be a perfectly straight tree to hang these sticks. You can actually see it follow the tree as it goes up. I bow hunt all season and hunt out of six stands. On three of my hang on stands i use the Swiftree sticks. I hang one section at a time and only secure it with the rope thats attached to the stick.Very tight and secure, no problems.Just ordered my fourth set. I dont know why someone would have a problem with these, they are pretty easy and simple to use, perhaps its just headspace and timing on their part!
These are some serious climbing sticks. I have several of the 17' sets and went for 2 sets of the 22' climbing sticks this time so I wouldn't have to add screw in steps at the top. There is definitely a greater degree of difficulty in putting these up. I recommend that you put up the first two levels and then climb down and pull up the next level and so on until you are done. Trying to put up all four at the same time can be awkward without someone to help. The nylon ropes are ok but I do add ratchets to the top to levels for added security. These climbing sticks are really nice for climbing in the dark or bad weather. You never have to worry about sliding off the step. I have some steps that have been out in the weather for 3yrs and they are holding up really well. I think you will like these sticks.
If you read the product instructions, it specifies that a straight tree is a requirement. If the tree is not straight, the ladder will not be in proper contact with the tree, or you could even bend the ladder. This may explain why one reviewer could not make the ladder stable. Also if you read the instructions regarding how to tie it on properly with the supplied nylon rope, it attaches quite securely. For me that has to be quite secure! I can assure you that I am not particlarly comfortable with heights. That is why I bought this ladder to replace the screw in steps I had been using previously. The only limitation I find is the requirement for a perfectly straight tree, preferably with as few limbs as possible. Fortunately in my area there are many cedars that fit this description. Good hunting!
I tried putting this on 2 different trees to no avail. Even with help from my hunting buddy it shifted all over the tree. This thing will not sit securely against the tree. The old style was much better than this one. The sections are very loosely connected as well. Very disappointed.
