The Do-All Backyard 3/4-Cock model is a sit-down model that features a comfortable fold-down chair. The trap has slip-in legs for easy setup in the field and a 2" hitch mount for connectingto your receiver hitch. The single target model is fully adjustable with the patented three-pivot mount that allows you to throw in any direction from a springing teal to a ground-bouncing rabbit and anything in between. The Backyard model incorporates a sprocket mechanism that uses a set of gears to cycle the trap 3/4 of the way around. This simple and easy-to-use trap is perfect for weekend shooters looking for a reliable trap at a great price. Each frame is constructed of heavy-duty steel tubing. Assembles in minutes. Comes complete with adjustable wrench and instructional DVD.
Very obvious that every corner possible was cut on production of this (rhymes with trap). Except for the paint, which has held up well, fit and finish is non-existant. If you are handy with a welder or willing to retap every thread, this may be just what you're looking for. I've rounded off every bolt on this thing trying to keep it from falling apart (literally!) after a few throws. No luck, even with the addition of extra lock washers. Last time out the return spring on the throwing arm snapped (250 throws max). I think I'll be dragging it out to the curb.
I just purchased this thrower on Sunday 8/8/10 and after only 10 throws the sprocket is already stripped out and the throwing arm does not cock 3/4 anymore. After releasing, the arm swings around to the 3/4 position and then swings back around to end up in the 12 o'clock position. The sprocket is definitely stripped and after only 10 throws.
I followed all assembly instructions very closely and tightened the spring per the directions.
I just emailed pictures to Do-All customer service, so we will see whether they choose to help.
The sprocket is obviously very cheap and poorly made. It appears to be a poorly made casting instead of machined from stock, stamped, forged, or any other more appropriate process.
