I purchased this fan for our place in Wyoming with the thought that it would look good against the knotty pine ceiling, knotty alder trim and so forth. It looks great - down to the detailing of a tooled leather belt and rope trim. But by the time you connect the light fixture it doesn't work for a room with an eight-foot ceiling. I had to nix the great looking light attachment and go with just the fan. Perhaps I should have known that. Just remember to get the specs down before you buy it. The remote is wall mounted and runs on a battery that will need occasional replacement. So it doesn't have the convenience of a hand held remote but since it isn't hard wired you'll have to change the battery from time to time. Weird. Oh, and be sure to have the right framing in place because as heavy as it is it won't hang from just any old bracket.
