Great gill/crappie/perch spoon
Date:
I got two of these a year or so back after seeing a fishing method for them involving panfish. However the treble and split ring that holds the hook on to the spoon are not that good quality; I take them off. I replace the split ring with a better one and then replace the treble with a blood red tru turn single hook. Then you trail the spoon with a gulp fish fry minnow (1/2 in) and man i KILLED BIG bluegills and crappie with that technique. I was fishing in brush and broke two off but i will definitely be getting two more.

The worst example of this type of lures
Date:
Absolutely blunt hooks. Bad split rings.
Two copies of the 3/4 oz lures are different from each other.
This garbage is not worth the money paid.

Hooks are weak.
Date:
This spoon is a good value, but if you expect to catch fish with strong mouths that really pull (like red fish), replace the hooks with, larger, stronger ones. The ones that comes standard with the spoon will straighten out (this happened to me). Slip a piece of Cabela's plastic tubing (hot pink is good) on to the shaft of the replacement hook, and you are set for some speckled trout, red fish, and Spanish mackerel action. This lure casts far and has good action. Use a ball-bearing swivel. I like the chrome and gold finishes - chrome for the surf and gold for the marsh.
