Shakespeare® Original Ugly Stik® Casting Rod

All the casting rods have blank-through-handle construction for maximum strength and sensitivity, and the exclusive quick-taper Clear Tip® design. The Original Ugly Stiks have durable EVA foam grips, along with graphite twist-lock reel seats and black stainless steel guide frames with aluminum-oxide inserts. The ferrule-less design on two-piece models gives you the strength and feel of a one-piece rod.

I bought a ML action rod a few months ago and it is a great rod with great action. I was a little surprised how thick the base was for a ML rod, but it has good backbone. The thickness just adds to the weight of the rod...

Love my Ugly Stick. Works great with the lighter crank baits and smaller worms. Excellent feel but enough backbone to set the hook. Will definitely buy another one. Can't beat the price!

When ugly stick says hated by repair shops they mean it. This Shakespeare Ugly stick combo was being used in the bow of a boat and was being used for trolling while being wedged under the trolling motor. While landing another fish the ugly stick combo had a fish on and 1/3 of the tip of the rod was nearly bent completely in half before I could grab the rod and land the nearly 5 pound walleye. I've seen other rods bend but nothing like Ugly Stick. You get alot of rod for a very good price!
