Daiwa TD Luna™ Baitcasting Reel

Heft and solid precision you can feel the first time you pick it up. These heavy-duty baitcasters are built for the rigors of heavy cover and big open-water fish. The frame and sideplates are machined from solid bar-stock aluminum and are hard anodized to resist corrosion. A rugged six-point support protects the drivetrain from strain and torque. Five corrosion-resistant ball bearings plus a roller bearing make the Luna as smooth as it is rugged. External fast palm or fingertip adjustments. Free-floating spool for maximum casting performance. Eight disc drag system. High-strength gearing. Magforce® Z automatic anti-backlash control generates long casts without the hassle of overrun. Dura-Loc™ pinion ensures solid gear engagement. The stainless steel line guide is treated with cutproof titanium nitride.

I love my Luna. This reel is very nice and easily to strip completely down and clean properly. Very nice casting control. All around I'm pleased with the purchase and I plan to buy his little sister the Luna 253.

I really like this reel. It's bigger than I generally need for most of my fishing, but about right for stripers. I prefer centrifugal brakes over this reels magnetic system, but I have to admit it functions well as is. My reel is smooth as butter and the quality shows. I give it a thumbs up for the design allowing external brake adjustment even though the adjustment ring is kind of slippery. It's still easier than taking the reel down to adjust it.

Great reel! Great drag! Casts well! Can haul just about anything in, from large mouth bass and catfish in fresh water to sea bass, jumbo fluke, monster blues and stripers in salt water. Only reason didn't give it 5 stars is because when I received it had scratches on it on the sides.
