This high-powered reel doesn't rely on speed for power, its oversized main gear and long-lasting Duragear™ brass gears provide "winching" power for hauling hard-fighting, heavyweight bass out of dense vegetation and deep-cranking large crankbaits. Its 5.4:1 gear ratio increases power at slow speeds for working large crank baits, and flipping or pitching plastics and jigs in heavy vegetation. Conversely, winching power decreases with high-speed cranking for faster retrieves. Always smooth performance from 10+1 stainless steel HPCR® ball bearings. Lightweight and corrosion-resistant X-Craftic™ alloy frame. Heat-tolerant Carbon Matrix™ drag. I've been purchasing reels for over 15 yrs now. after plenty of Shimanos, okuma, daiwa,and other brand reels I decided to turn to the Abu. I am currently selling all my other reels to purchase more winch reels. these reels are made top notch and by far the best reel I've ever owned. It blows the Curada out the water. Fishing gear is one of those things you get what you pay far. After blowing money on other reels. I will never own another reel besides a Abu.

Highly Recommended Reel

I received this reel for my birthday after realizing that I was in need of a good cranking reel. I took this reel out yesterday during our bass team practice and at first had this on my Abu Veritas 7 ft medium action rod throwing a Squarebill crankbait. However since the water temperature was lower than what was good for cranking I eventually tied on a DD22 and the reel worked like a dream. It cast great and was super smooth even when reeling in the bigger crankbait. It even worked great while reeling the 5 pounder that slammed my DD22 after a few casts. I recommend this reel to anyone who is looking for a lower gear ratio reel for cranking.

I only have a couple of round reels that can equal the cranking power of this low profile reel. Mine has the pitch centrifugal brake and I haven't decided yet if I like it as good as a regular 6 pin or not. The pitch brake adjustments seem like they are a little more finicky to set right. Once you get them set they do a good job, but I still feel like I can get more distance with a properly set 6 pin. This reel seems to be built about as strong as you can build a low profile freshwater reel of it's size. For big fish I have more confidence in it than any other low profile reel I own. These Winch's hold a lot of line and are quality made. It shows in how smooth and durable they are.

Best reel for big crankbaits. You can chuck them all day and not feel it. I had problems with the orginal one that I purchased. and Abu replaced it under warrenty no problems no questions asked. I plan on getting more to replace my other bait casters. great reel definatly recomend to anyone looking for a new bait caster.
