It's a tough thing to buy a rod and reel on the internet but cabella's makes it easy. Very happy with this purchase. Only mistake I made is I picked up the 12 foot rod. Has a beautiful action and the braking system was awesome trying to learn how to use a bait caster.

Bought one and liked it so much ordered two more, one for me and one for my fishing buddy. Fantastic set-up for the price, hard to beat. Very impressed with the rod and the reel seems well made. Only problem I have found is not one of the rigs came with an instruction manual for the reel. I like to have the parts diagrams and know all the little technical details.

I recently received the heavier salmon version as a gift. I used it on a fishing trip to Oregon and it performed very well with King and Silver salmon. I have more expensive rods and reels---but I could not find anything wrong with this combo. I loaded it with 30lb braid and discovered it casts very well. The drag is smooth and handles big fish well. It also has a rod blank thru the reel seat feature which allows for greater bite sensitivity. I liked it so much I ordered the lighter model for Steelhead. You simply cannot go wrong at this price. They make great primary or backup rods. Great for someone just starting out who does not want to invest a ton of money in equipment.

Can't beat it for the price!!!

Have only had the combo for about a month but have used it a lot for Salmon season. With 12lbs Maxima line I managed to catch a 8.5 pound Chinook and an 18 lbs Chinook with no problem. Sure there are better combos out there but nothing I have seen that would work better anywhere near the price of this one. The reel cast wonderfully and the rod holds up very well. All in all I am very happy with this set-up.
