Cabela's Whuppin' Stick Salt™ Casting Rod

These rods are built with all the same durability as the originals - plus the extras needed to handle the extreme saltwater enviroment. Each blank is crafted of a powerful, nearly indestructible, E-Glass and T-Glass blend for the backbone it takes to heft saltwater bruisers out of the depths. All are outfitted with graphite reel seats for extra sensitivity and soft EVA grips for a sure-handed grip. Rods use double-foot, super-hard, chrome-plated stainless steel frames and rings. All have a nylon gimbal butt with cap.

Longe Range Tuna Stick

I got lucky stopping at Cabelas in AZ on the way to California for a long range fishing trip. They had the salt water whuppin stick in the 40-80 lb rating. I already had one rod, but needed another.

The trip was a success and I caught all of my fish (yellowfin tuna) on it. We fished at Allajos Islands for two days and came back loaded.

I'm getting ready to order two more sticks for my 30 and 20 wight gear.

My only wish is that they carried it in a stand up model, with a little longer fore handle.

The whupping stick is ok i wanted something waith a more
tappered end and a extra loop near the reel mount.

Whuppin Stick a Great Deal

I was looking for a home for my Avet MXL and stumbled across the 6' Whuppin Stick. Very impressed with the construction. While I haven't had the chance to put it to work yet, the rod is really fantastic looking and seems to have the backbone I want to go after the 10-20 lb Blues and Bass I typically pull out of LI Sound. So far - it's a winner.
