I'm 5'7" and made the mistake of buying a 6' radius net. When you look at the demo video, the fella casting the net must be well over 6' tall... You can't 'bunch' the net like a regular casting net... so if you get a net with a radius too big for your body the weights will drag on the dock or bank and you'll work your butt off trying to get a good cast... my 2 cents...
I purchased this cast net a few weeks ago. The net is amazing. It has a very quality throw line and a great wrist lanyard. I have never used a cast net before and was able to pick it up very quickly. The weights are very well spaced out resulting in loads of bait coming in. The only things I didnt like about the net was the box it came in broke instantly. The handle and hinges are very very cheap and will not stand up to very much use. I suggest going out and purchasing a heavy duty plastic carry tub. The handle broke off the box the first day and the hinges cracked within 3 days. When transporting the net kept it in the box and carried it in my backpack. The other thing I didn't like is the net tends to hold "stink" pretty well. I have tried soaking it in hot soapy water and cant get the smell out. I have to keep it in the bed of my truck otherwise if its in my truck and its sunny. WHOAH watch out. All in all the actual net construction is very good and I look forward to using this item for years to come.... As soon as I get a new box to carry it in.
I bought this net for the medium heavy weight (about a pound per radius foot?) as I have another Fitec pro (that weighs 1 1/2 pounds per) which is fine for boating when you don't have to lug it around shore. I just wished that the actual net softness was a great as my heavy Filtec. It's a lot lighter to carry around the beach though, still very good quality & would recommend to anyone.
I love my Pro Series Cast Net. I've had many nets ranging in size from 4' to 20'. I use this net to catch bait and the 1/4" mesh is just the right size to keep the bait in the net. It is very durable and comes with its own handy bucket.
