Very Good Addition
Date:
An excellent choice for use with dutch ovens. I have been using my standard length tripod for five years now. It really increases your options, especially if you want to use an open fire versus charcoal briquettes. It works well from the backyard to the elk camp. Folds flat and is very stable when placed over the fire. Once you get the hang of adjusting the chain, it's relatively easy (I continuously move the dutch oven up and down depending on the fire).

Good concept
Date:
This tripod did it's job, which was to hold a cast iron pot (full of chili) over the fire. A very sturdy set-up.
It would be nice if it were easy to adjust the chain length while cooking (we had to use gloves and remove the pot of chili, then shorten the chain, then put the chili back on) to adjust the cooking heat. My husband is working on attaching a grilling grate to chains which can then be raised and lowered for cooking.
Works well for what it is.
