I bought this kayak to be able to take my grandchildren boating. It has served the purpose 100% . Introducing children as young as 2 yrs. old to the thrills of kayaking lakes and calm rivers. The boat is very stable, yet easy to roll with proper leg-strap bracing. It is a great kayak for the price!
I was looking for a kayak in lime green for about 6 months. Either it was too small, out of stock, or too wide. I rented a Dirigo at a local lake and was sold on it immediately. I ordered one in lime green and it is awesome. I am waiting for my Malone Seawings car rack to arrive so I can take my kayak out for the first ride. My friend, on my suggestion, ordered the same kayak in blue. I like the open cockpit area with the extra little seat in case I want to take my dog or a my little neighbor with me. The seat is very comfortable. I am very happy with this kayak! And the sale price was awesome! Thanks Cabelas!
So I purchased this kayak based on the weight capacity and the ability to take my son out with me. Being somewhat new to kayaking I was not sure what to expect but I will tell you that I enjoyed my first voyage out. The Kayak handled great. Went through some rough waters when the winds picked up and through the wakes of passing by boats. There is more than enough storage space in the stern hatch and on top of the deck. One thing I did not like about the kayak was how far you have to lean forward to get to the cup holder and deck storage compartment. I did read this on other people\u2019s comments. That is one of the reasons I gave it a 4 star. The weight and balance of the kayak is great too. I added a rod holder to the deck. The installation itself was simple but they did not leave enough space between the round deck hatch and the mounting surface to mount it perfectly square without the hatch rubbing against the rod holder base. A little angle had to be made on the rod holder base. Another reason why I rated it a four. I am still going to add a set of the flush mounted rod holders, a fish finder, and some type of anchor system as the wind blows this kayak around. I felt very safe on this kayak. This kayak did serve its purpose by letting me get out on the water, have a great time, enjoy the scenery, get some exercise, and land a 4lb rainbow trout.
