Solid construction but the bottle has broken down from using city tap water to fill the container. I have purchased the SIGG water bottles cleaners and they may slow it down but any tap water left in the bottle will pit the aluminum and make it VERY hard to clean. I have another aluminum bottle that does not have this problem.
So I've owned two of these so far, was attracted to them because they are lighter than their steel counterparts. So the first one fell on the floor from no more than two feet, dented the bottom and blew out the center of the cap. I thought maybe it was a manufacturing defect, so I bought another. The next did the same thing, so I tried to put a several different versions of wide mouth bottle caps on it, the odd proprietary design of the bottle cap prevents any other caps from fitting without pofuse leaking. So I checked with Brunton to buy a replacement cap, I still liked the bottle after all. They don't sell replacement caps, but the service rep offered to send me one for free and did so after about 4 weeks and two email reminders. So I've got my new bottle cap, everything is good and then... The bottle while full of water literally rolled off the floor of my truck (not a lifted truck), fell 18 inches and blew off the cap. I put the cap back on and found that water poored out when turned upside down. Upon closer inspection found that some of the threads inside the cap had broken off and the mouth of the bottle itself warped. So after two bottles and three caps i'm done I think. I'm going back to stainless steel. I like this bottle in concept, its lightweigth without flavor, but brittle and weak. I've never broken any other water bottle, I'm not that hard on them, this one is weak though.
It's a good high quality aluminum bottle. Well made. Frankly, a really good deal for the money... I've paid this much for a plastic bottle in the past.
As the previous reviewer noted, the price sticker is WAY too well adhered. Seriously, retailers: (1) this product came with a paper tag you could have put the price sticker on without risking permanant damage to the product's finish; and (2) they make removable adhesive stickers which are the same prices as permanant price stickers.
The paint comes off easier than the price sticker and the opening is large enough that it is hard to drink out of. It hits me right on the nose. I think I prefer the Sigg's smaller opening - you can't put ice in that bottle but it is easier to drink out of. Other than that the bottle is fine and is the same as all the other aluminum bottles out there.
