Great for preparing large breakfasts at home or when you're trying to satisfy a group of hungry anglers, hunters or campers after a morning in the field, this spacious griddle measures a full 10-3/4" x 16-1/2". Heavy-duty steel construction with a tough non-stick coating that makes clean-up much easier.
I just opened it and while I'm sure it will work well and it fits just right on my Coleman stove, the actual cooking area is 6.5" by 13" . The rest of the advertised dimension is consumed by the up-angled edges (about 1.5" all around) to prevent spills, etc. Not that big at all but is still a larger surface than two pans on the stove at the same time.
Alright. Those that are disappointed that it's not heating in the middle when used on a propane or white gas stove have to blame the stove manufacturer (or realise the limitations of the heating equipment they purchased) not the griddle manufacturer who is upfront about the materials used to make the griddle. Should the space between burners be too far apart...ipso facto it's not gonna heat the center of the grill. Those with that issue need to look into a cast iron griddle and accept the weight difference as a given.
I'm not a fan of modern non stick surfaces in general yet this product is working fine on my white gas vintage Coleman stove. I can make pancakes on site for 4 people or bacon/sausages for 6 in one setting. Should I need to reheat frozen pancakes, I can pull out servings for 6 people, utilising a simple piece of aluminium foil as a pot cover.
I've never cooked eggs on top but can't imagine why they wouldn't work fine.
I have grilled meat on this griddle using the fire pit as heating mechanism with no issue. You just need to be aware of what height to put the griddle from the coals/wood. Cooking over an open fire so often leads to burnt meat and/or cooking utensil w/o paying attention to the reality that your not cooking at the "auto" stuff at home;).
I'm only giving this product 4 stars because I prefer to cook on well seasoned non stick cast iron, LOL.
I was very pleased with the Coleman Griddle. When I cooked bacon over the fire it cooked evenly and the turned up sides kept the grease in. The cleanup was easy.
I would have given it 3.5 stars if I could have. It seems to be well built, the nonstick coating works well. I was not impressed with the performance on a two burner stove, the middle did not heat evenly. Worked well though over a fire where the whole griddle is over a flame.
