Awesome Tent!
Date:
I owned the Springbar tent and after one of last year’s trips it was stolen out of the back of my truck. So needless to say I needed a replacement. I decided to go with the Kodiak for less money than the Springbar.
After a year and plenty of trips I have no complaints. The Kodiak has held up in heavy rains, strong winds, and even some snow. It’s nice and roomy, easy for one person to set up (its heavy. But if you’re looking at a canvas tent it should be expected). Just a great all around tent!
I would recommend getting a tarp to place underneath it.

Wow, what a tent
Date:
Wow, what a tent! For a large 10x14 footprint, set up was fairly simple- almost too much so. My first impression was that the flex frame didn't look nearly strong enough to stand up to adverse conditions, but was I ever wrong.
While the tent is incredibly stuffy in high temps (East Washington desert), there is plenty room for a fan. There is also room for a king size bed, 2 bedside tables, backpacks, clothes line and extra room to sprawl. My wife even set up a shower curtain at one end to accommodate a small porta potty set-up.
The entry screens are well thought out, zipping from the top down, allowing privacy and adequate ventilation simultaneously.
This tent has standing room at all areas- you could even turn cartwheels if you are nimble enough.
As to strength in adverse conditions- we camped in Sun Lakes, WA. Nighttime winds there are extreme. The tent withstood wind gusts up to 60 mph for hours on end with no damage to the poles or fabric. There were no pulled seams. The tent did not leak despite being buffeted by rain and wind. The tent does luff quite a bit, but this is reminiscent of a palm tree- it bends in high winds but doesn't break. Once my initial concerns about getting swallowed by a tent crashing down on us in the wee hours of the night were allayed, I was able to sleep soundly confident that this tent was as mighty as the previous reviewers claimed. Wow, what a tent!

Excellent tent!!
Date:
It is very rare that I take my time to write a review so when I do, it's because the product I'm review has gone above and beyond my expectations.
I purchased the 10x14 Kodiak after wanting the "other" brand but couldn't justify the added cost. Once I saw it in the bargain cave I went ahead and bit the bullet. Once it arrived, I set it up in the yard and left it for a few days. At first I was a bit skeptical about my purchase because there was a good bit of dampness inside one night after a few light showers. It was fully zipped shut with the exception of the two roof vents so I was hoping the dampness was because of condensation. April of this year was the first chance I was able to really use the tent and put it to test.
Our first big trip was to Cape Lookout seashore in NC, camping directly on the beach with very little cover from the wind. Before going, I bent 14 tent stakes each made from 2' pieces of 3/8" rebar. I knew the 12" stakes included would not hold in sand even though they seem to be high quality stakes for other terrain. It took me at least 20 minutes to drive in the stakes and maybe 5 more to finish standing up the tent. Later that night, the tent was put through the wringers.
Around 9pm the storms started rolling through and dumped nearly 3" of rain overnight. I checked several times for water intrusion and wall wicking but never once was there one single drop. Behind the weather front came the winds... According to the NWS, we had 25mph sustained winds with gusts of 40mph. In the 25's, the tent barely flutters. It really felt like the inside of a nylon tent with 5mph winds. With the gust's, the tent just lightly swayed with the winds never making us feel unsafe or even nervous. This thing is rock solid!! My awning did flap in the wind for a few hours while we were out fishing because I didn't tie it down properly. I could see it flapping wildly from a 1/4 mile away and was expecting to see torn seams and a ripped up awning when we arrived but there was absolutely no damage whatsoever. I will be purchasing the 10x10 model soon for my older kids and to keep the kitchen gear in.
My only gripe is that Cabelas does not offer the Kodiak ground cloth for it. Kodiak makes one specifically for their tents, how about carrying them soon?

Highly Satisfied
Date:
After considerable research and comparison shopping I finally went for broke and bought the 10x14 Flex Bow Tent last month. Very expensive, especially when shipping charges and Duty fees are applied but I think it is going to be worth it.
The tent is roomy, well-made and easy and fast to set up all by myself.
I have not yet used it in the field but did a trial set-up in the yard and hosed the tent down with water as per manufacturers instructions, I gave it a good soaking of fine spray. There was no leakage at all and I was very pleased. This tent is really waterproof. I took a chance and placed my hand on the inside of the tent after wetting it down and just as advertised it did not leak through at all! Wow!
I am going on a 14 day fishing trip in June and will give the tent a really good trial. Maybe then I will do a followup review.
Call me old fashioned but gosh I love a canvas tent!
