The 2nd Annual Western Hunting & Conservation Expo was a national convention between three major North American wildlife conservation organizations and the Wild Sheep Foundation (WSH), the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF), and Sportsmen for Habitat (SFH). The 2009 Hunting Expo is the third of five consecutive annual Hunting Expos scheduled to be held in Salt Lake City through 2011. 200 Utah premium, limited entry, and once-in-a-lifetime trophy hunting tags, are available to any and all sportsmen by public drawing. DockDogs® is the original event organizer for "Dock-Diving" dogs. They currently sponsor two dog and handler team events based on jumping dogs off of a dock into a body of water. Big Air®, often termed as "long jumping for dogs", is a sport where dogs compete for longest distance jumped from the end of the dock. In Extreme Vertical®, the high jumping equivalent, dogs attempt to grab a bumper at increasing heights. Unlike many other dog sports, DockDogs® events encourage participation by dogs of any breed or size. Because there are size and talent classifications, every dog/handler tandem has a chance to compete for prizes and win, from beginner to seasoned professional. DockDogs® Affiliate Clubs, currently organized into eleven regions in the U.S. (and now one in the U.K.) are a way to meet, practice and run sanctioned events with fellow enthusiasts. The Cabela's Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) is the longest-running professional walleye tournament circuit in the United States and remains serious competition for people who love to fish walleyes. Established in 1984, the MWC has set the stage for the myriad of fishing tournaments that have since cropped onto the scene. This is where the best fishermen gather to test their strategies, savvy and skills. The MWC offers the ultimate reward in terms of respect and recognition from angling peers, as well as trophies and big cash prizes. Iditarod 2009 is now in the history books, with Lance Mackey claiming a third Iditarod victory after a close race. Don't forget to mark your calendars for the 38th running of this commemorative sled dog race, which begins with the ceremonial start on March 6, 2010, on the streets of Anchorage and ends up in Nome, more than 1,100 miles later.
