Hunting around the Crab Orchard Refuge in Southern Illinois, Tim Grounds never missed an opportunity to learn calling techniques from experienced goose hunters. As a young guide, Tim began modifying Olt A-50 flute calls, which he sold to clients. Tim started a call business in 1975, quickly becoming an industry leader. He saw the amazing potential of the short-reed goose call in the Half Breed, now a household name among goose callers. Grounds' cutting-edge call designs and his willingness to mentor many aspiring champion callers greatly influenced modern call making.
