I read the few negative reviews and don't understand. I have used the sight for more than two years with zero issues and have taken animals across North America and Africa. I found it to be very sturdy and reliable. In fact I just bought another one to go on the new BowTech I just bought. I also know three hunting partners that have the same sight all with no issues. This is a great sight from my perspective.
The G5 XR sight is the ultimate sight for the western bow hunter having to stretch out his or her shots. The sight comes with 3 fixed pins and 1 floating pin. Setup is easy. The directions come with several setup photos for specific feet per second ratings. All you do is adjust the pins positions and gaps prior to installation. Install the sight and fine tune. The sight comes with a few pieces of sight tape to make yardage marks for the floating pin. Make sure you sight the floating pin in first. This will allow you to get the maximum yardage possible with your setup. If you need more yardage tape for new setups, just email G5\u2019s customer service and they will send you plenty free of charge. G5 stands behind their products and as a serious western bow hunter I recommend this product looking for the best of both worlds. A fixed pin sight for the quick on the spot shots and a floating pin for those spot and stalk situations in the open with little cover. Make sure you read and follow the directions or you may be disappointed.
I love this sight. It was easy to setup and is bullet proof. I started by making the top of the floating pin's travel to be 50 yards. Once I had that nailed down I put the others at 40, 30, and 20. I then started marking off 5 yard increments on the tape and I ended up at just over 90 yards at the bottom of the floaters travel. This will vary with your speed and draw length and angle from peep to sight but it will definitely stretch you out a bit. I'm shooting a 360 grain arrow at about 305 ft/sec. I shoot a lot of target stuff and I like to shoot distance so this is perfect for me. If 90 yards feels okay then 20 yards from a treestand shouldn't be too bad! When I get to the range I just dial up 90 and start shooting. I know where my arrow is supposed to hit and if it doesn't it's me. Once I finally get to go out west and chase elk I'll be confident in my sight to be able to help make a longer distance shot if it presents itself.
I bought these sights a year ago. They look good and are easy to use. But for this price, you would think G5 would do something about the noise! These are the noisiest sights I,ve ever owned. I have a buddy that just bought the sights about 3 weeks ago, he too is very unsatisfied.
