Minn Kota® 55 PowerDrive™ V2 Motors

  • New cam-lock deploy-assist lever
  • Waterproof connectors for foul-weather startups
  • New foot pedal with momentary on/off
  • Precision rotary speed-control dial
  • 18-ft. cord for control anywhere on boat
  • Digital Maximizer technology saves battery charge
If you're the kind of demanding freshwater fisherman who gets up and sets his hooks before first light, then you require a PowerDrive™ V2 55 Power Drive electric steering motor. It sports a tough design, has ultrafast response, and it gets you anywhere you need to go on the water. Select units are available with Universal Sonar 2, which features DualBeam transducer capability as well as an integrated temperature sensing module. The integrated transducer and wiring arrangement eliminates concerns of damage caused by underwater obstructions. PowerDrive V2's new deploy-assist lever allows you to get to the fish quicker and easier than ever before. No more wrestling with the trolling motor in heavy waves and current – just push down on the cam-lock lever to get the trolling motor down in the water. When you're ready to pull up the motor, this lever system makes it much quicker and easier to be on your way. The newly designed foot pedal gives you infinite and precise adjustability of your speed control and features momentary and constant settings. It also allows more decisive turning capability. A new waterproof, ergonomic design allows less fatigue after a full day on the water. New IP68 waterproof connections are the industry's highest standard and improve the overall reliability and performance. Comes complete with an 18-ft. cord to allow you to control the motor from anywhere in your boat. You can't beat the Digital Maximizer technology that supports up to five times longer run time on a single charge. By controlling the draw of power at variable speeds, Digital Maximizer eliminates wasted energy, extends battery life and gives you more time on the water.

plenty of power
Date:
I bought this product several weeks ago and love it. I also bought the motor mate removable trolling motor mount (43.) .This bracket is the cheaper one but works great just tighten the screw real tight. It also has a spot for a small lock.I mounted this unit on my 2000 Alum. 17' LUND. This trolling motor has plenty of power to fish in snd around lilly pads. Six hours of fishing and still plenty of power. It takes minutes to get use to the foot pedal When I'm done fishing I take the motor off to store in my shed and my cover goes back on. These products matched with Cabela's prices and service and you have a winner. Can't beat Cabela's ,no need to shop around. I recieved this day's earlier than expected.. Cabela's #1

Worst trolling motor ever...
Date:
I've had this motor for almost 3 years and the foot pedal hasn't worked right since soon after buying it. I took it back to cabelas and the shop tried to fix it but when I went back out fishing it still wouldn't work. I took it to an authorized Minn Kota dealer and they said the foot pedal was bad and replaced it. It's been less than a year and it is not working again. We also bought the co-pilot and foot pedal last October and it's not working either. I will never buy another Minn Kota product again. Their customer service is awful and so is their products.I'm off to look for a new motor guide trolling motor.

Running on all 4 with Crazy J
Date:
I've got the 55 PD V2 motor on my 16' Fiberglass 1977 Starcraft with a V4 90 hp 1986 Two stroke Evinrude (A little too much to troll with). I took it out for the first time since redoing the whole boat. I was hoping to use the powerdrive for trolling spoons for trout in spring and Fall as well as to use it for bass in the summer. The thing operates perfect it is easy to put out and retrieve I saw other reviews that said this was difficult (I have no idea why, seems simple easy and straight forward to me). The foot pedal is great and takes about one second to become a pro with it (My dad uses it like a hand controller for a video game ha ha). I ran on 1/4 life of a 200 kw/hr battery from cabelas (not one of the fancy ones, just the cheapest highest storage deep cycle battery at the store) and it ran for 2+ hours without a first charge. I caught 22 rainbows the first time out, my personal best, and I would attribute it to the trolling motor because I could feather the speed in to be perfect for any lure. It can even be used for slow trolling of live shinners, or flatfish. And the silence of trolling with an electric motor is beautiful, its so much nicer than yelling to have a conversation over the 2-stroke. I hope to get 8 hours out my battery on a full charge. I can't wait to get out this weekend to catch some fat slobs.

MinnKota PowerDriive 55 Review
Date:
I finally gave up on my Motor Guide Wireless 55 - wireless concept is great, mechanics were bad. Friends recommended MinnKota so I bought the PowerDrive V2 55. While time will tell about how I will feel, right now here's the positive and negatives: Positive - easy to install, very quiet, love the low profile foot controll - almost like wireless with long cable. Negative - 1/3 less powerful than the Motor Guide 55, it's going to take some getting used to the raising of the motor, the nut holding the shaft collar fell off the first time I tried to adjust and it is very very tight - hopefully it will losen a little as I use it - right now it is extremely difficult to adjust. The main hope is that it will last for years!
