This product is essentially identical to the "professional" boresighter but touts an HD lens. Is the extra money for the premium worth it? I don't know but I paid the $30 extra for the premium over the professional grade. I can say that the premium has a super bright laser that is visible at long distances.
The first unit I purchased intermittently either would not turn on or would stay on spontaneously regardless if in a different caliber sleeve or by itself in the .223 core version. I returned that unit for an exchange. I believe the first unit purchased had a faulty switch.The exchange unit works great but with limitations that require one to improvise.
The new .223 base unit mounted inside of the 12 GA sleeve is consistent and reliably turns on 100% of the time. However, the .300 Win Mag sleeve combo is very tricky.
I assume because of tolerances, the bolt on my Ruger M77 .300 Win Mag does not engage the laser when the bolt is shut. I read the other reviews on the professional version where one user recommended adding a small piece of tape to the back of the .223 core unit to help in these situations. I added the tape and it helped the first time but afterwards the laser would not turn on. After adding piece after piece of tape, I finally opened the .223 unit and added a small piece of aluminum foil to the 3rd button battery that essentially turns the unit into a constant on mode. I now keep that small piece of tin foil in the sleeve carrier.
Once I found my own workaround to this problem I can say that I am extremely satisfied. With a .300 Win Mag, it is very expensive (and painful) to have to shoot more than a few rounds on the range to dial in.
Temper your expectations as this boresighter is not a substitute for the range if you want EXTREME accuracy. Insert the laser one time and the laser showed slightly lower left. Insert a second time and it would show slight lower right. But...what this product does do is get you close enough for deer season (at 150 yards or less for my situations) without spending hours and $$$ in ammo on the range. With fewer than 6 shots on the range, I was able to get dead on.
Note - If the unit does not turn on make sure the end cap on the .223 base unit is securely screwed tight. Also, make sure the unit you purchase contains a black plastic rod for tapping the base .223 unit out of the sleeves without damaging it. The first unit did not have this. It is visible in the same compartment as the 3 extra batteries.
