Best Slug Gun
Date:
Since I live in a state that is almost slug gun only (Maryland) I decided to purchase a good quality slug gun to hunt with. After reading and hearing reviews about the Saveage 220, I pulled the trigger and purchased one for myself. I also purchased a Nikkon BDC shotgun scope to mount on top. I purchase 3" Federal Barnes Tipped Expanders as well. After boresighting, I had it sighted in in three shots, 1 at 25 yards, 1 at 50 yards, and 3 at 100 yards all within 1 1/2". You could cover the group with a silver dollar. Can't wait for firearm season! Do yourself a favor, if you live in MD or any other area that is a shotgun zone, get yourself one of these, you will be quite happy with it. If not, fine, more deer for me.

Savage Model 220
Date:
I bought this gun in 20 gauge after having alot of failures from my sx3 and my 935. I was almost going to give up on shooting sabot slugs but decided to give this firearm a try and man It made all the diffrence in the world super accurate and super smooth bolt not counting the free floating barrel and the best Rifle trigger I ever felt. I don't know why its adjustable the factory setting is awesome. I like it better than my Model 700 CDL trigger. The only thing I don't like about it is the plastic box magazine.

Great Gun!
Date:
I can't believe how far slug guns have become in the last few years. 10 years ago if someone told you that their slug gun shoots 3" groups at 100 yards you pretty much figured that they were full of it. I'm getting 1 1/4" groups at 100 yards and although I haven't shot it that far yet, I would not hesitate a second to take a 150 yard shot. I hunt in the woods so getting a long shot probably will never happen, but if you hunt on the edge of a field or something, this is your gun. I would highly recommend shooting the gun out to 200 yards first just so you know what the slug is going to do at those ranges, but I think a 200 yard shot is not unrealistic.
I tested about a half a dozen different type of slugs, and the ones I'm using are the 3" accutips. I'd save time and money and just go to them right away if I were to do it again. The group I hunt with all use them, and I don't see anyone ready to go to anything different any time soon.

Savage 220
Date:
I bought a 220 in camo from Cabelas in a package deal with a 3x9 Bushnell scope mounted on it. Sighted it in quickly at 150 yards wit 3" Federal Baness Expander tipped slugs. I was shooting 1 1/2" groups at 150 yards. This last week I shot a 140" 8 pointer at 85 yards and stopped him dead in his tracks! A couple days later I shot a smaller doe @140 yards with the same result! Awesome gun!!!
