Finally found a gun that lets me be a good shooter. If you're not a great shot then this is the gun for you. You can't miss once you're sighted in. I bought this combo in 17hmr at Cabela's in Hamburg PA. I sighted in from my lead sled at 50 yds and put every bullet in the bullseye the size of a quarter. Then I shot at my spinner target at 100yds. I aimed dead center of the paddle and hit it every single time. I was using 17gr CCI Vmax bullets. They are fast, flat and powerful on impact. This is my can't miss gun.

Had one 35 shot group that a quarter covered up at 50 yards. Used CCI mini mags 40 grain. You can easily do a head shot on a squirrel, better yet that armadillo that is tearing up my yard. He will be introduced to Mr. Savage Mark II once I see him again.

Went to Cabelas with an intent of buying a Marlin XT 22SR. But the Savage caught my eye because of its appearance. I like the looks of the camo and with the scope it looks pretty cool. Anyway, the gun clerk hand me the Savage... it feels solidly made, its got a weight to it maybe because of the bull barrel. I handed it back and asked to see the Marlin XT 22SR. The Marlin feels so light and kind of flimsy to me. I handed it back and bought the Savage. I took it home it hom,e cleaned it and the next day went to the range with it. I boresighted it first using mu BSA bore sighter tool.
My first three rounds hit 2" to the right of the bull's eye at 50 yards and about a quarter size group. It took 12 rounds to perfectly get it sighted properly and hitting the bull's eye repeatedly with a quarter size groupings. This is an excellent gun. Didn't have not one Jam. It spits the shell and load just fine. Spent a hundred rounds just plinking. It's an awesome gun!!
